Conveniently located on the Hatch Elementary School campus! The preschool serves children 3-5 years. This center has two classrooms, a preschool class and a Pre-K class. The Half Moon Bay preschool has a variety of indoor learning centers in each classroom: art, dramatic play, building/blocks, math/manipulative materials, and literacy.
Program Curriculum:
Our program uses The Creative Curriculum, with the philosophy that young children learn best by hands on experiences. We focus on teaching the whole child to help them become independent, self-confident, inquisitive and enthusiastic learners.
We prioritize active participation, relationship building, flexible methods, inquiry and play-based learning. CCP teachers introduce students to new concepts (examples include caterpillars, deep oceans, farming) with the goal of inspiring a love of learning. Teachers then skillfully create opportunities for children to learn more about the topics that interest the children the most.

Master Teacher Fabi:
My name is Fabiola. I am a teacher in the preschool classroom. I have my supervisor permit and more than 40 Early Childhood Education units, and I have my AA/AS Degree. I began working in the Early Childhood Education field in 2004. I have had a great experience working in the Early Childhood Education field. What I love most about early childhood education is the ability to watch and witness the growth in social, emotional, physical, cognitive, and creative development. Social interaction is a huge part of development, and I always encourage social interactions with other children and adults. Social and emotional development includes the child's experience, expression and management of emotions and the ability to establish positive relationships with others. For example, using their words when they want to play with others or have a turn with something like a toy; and mainly feeling comfortable and confident to ask for help or ask questions.

Teacher Meli:
Hello Families! My name is Melissa Ruiz and I go by Teacher Meli. I joined CCP in the Summer of 2021 as a substitute teacher and became a full-time preschool teacher in the Fall 2022. I graduated from SFSU in May 2022 with a B.A. in Child and Adolescent Development (concentration in early childhood) and a minor in special education and general education. I have prior experience working with children ages 3-11 at different locations like ECEC in San Francisco and the Big lift summer program here in Half Moon Bay. I first joined the ECE field in 2018. I love working with children because I witness their social, emotional, physical, cognitive, and creative growth. I like that I can be part of each child's support system and help them reach developmental milestones. I look forward to getting to know each child individually and their families!

Teacher Melissa:
Hello, I’m Teacher Melissa. I joined the Coastside Children’s Programs Preschool, in Half Moon Bay, in September of 2022. I recently earned my associate's in science degree for Early Childhood Education (ECE) from Skyline College as well as an associate's in arts degree for Film from the College of San Mateo in the spring of 2022. I have plans to expand my education, one day in the future, by earning associate degrees in both Ethnic Studies and History. I was raised and went to school here in Half Moon Bay, and I am just thrilled to be giving back to my community through educating its young residents. I enjoy getting to witness my student’s growth patterns and developing their interests, skills, talents, and developmental milestones. I am loving the teaching team that I collaborate with every day as well as getting to know each individual student and their families. I feel important and respected here and I am grateful that the Coastside Children’s Programs have chosen me to be a part of your children’s educational beginning.
