Half Moon Bay Preschool

Conveniently located on the Hatch Elementary School campus!  The preschool serves children 3-5 years. This center has two classrooms,  a preschool class and a Pre-K class. The Half Moon Bay preschool has a variety of indoor learning centers in each classroom: art, dramatic play, building/blocks, math/manipulative materials, and literacy.

Program Curriculum:
Our program uses The Creative Curriculum, with the philosophy that young children learn best by hands on experiences. We focus on teaching the whole child to help them become independent, self-confident, inquisitive and enthusiastic learners.

We prioritize active participation, relationship building, flexible methods, inquiry and play-based learning.  CCP teachers introduce students to new concepts (examples include caterpillars, deep oceans, farming) with the goal of inspiring a love of learning.  Teachers then skillfully create opportunities for children to learn more about the topics that interest the children the most.

Highlights:
  • Site Supervisor is California Department of Education permitted,  having completed college coursework specific to early childhood and education.

My name is Yesenia Ramirez and I have been in the Early Childhood Education field since 2003. Prior to joining CCP in 2007, I worked for the Peninsula YMCA as a Program Coordinator for the Summer Camps and After-school programs. I had the opportunity to help lead a week long trip for a group of teenagers to visit the YMCA Youth Migrant Home in Tijuana, Mexico, where we also remodeled a park and a preschool. During my time at CCP, I've had the opportunity to take on different roles as a teacher, administrative assistant, program associate, and supervisor. My experience working for CCP has been awesome and I am very happy working for this program. My goal is to meet the needs of each individual child emotionally, socially, and academically. I will support them in a loving and caring environment where they will learn and grow.

I grew up in Half Moon Bay and have a daughter and son. I enjoy cooking and spending time with my family.

My name is Fabiola. I am a teacher in the preschool classroom. I have my Associate Teacher permit and more than 40 Early Childhood Education units and am working toward my Associate Degree. I have more than 15 years of experience teaching in Early Childhood Education.

I have had a great experience working in the Early Childhood Education field. What I love most about early childhood education is the ability to watch and witness the growth in social, emotional, physical, cognitive, and creative development.
Social interaction is a huge part of development and I always encourage social interactions with other children and adults. Social and emotional development includes the child experience, expression and management of emotions and the ability to establish positive and relationship with others. For example, using their words when they want to play with others or have a turn with something like a toy; and mainly feeling comfortable and confident to ask for help or ask questions.
