Conveniently located in downtown Half Moon Bay, CCP Half Moon Bay Preschool was the very first CCP center opened! We are located next to the beautiful Community United Methodist Church, and are in a quiet residential neighborhood within easy walking distance to downtown, where we take the children on walking trips. CCP has two classrooms at this center; a young preschool class for children 2-3 years old and a Pre-K class for children 4-5 years old.
The Half Moon Bay preschool has a variety of indoor learning centers in each classroom: art, dramatic play, building/blocks, math/manipulative materials, and literacy. The outdoor space is no ordinary playground - the teachers transform the area daily as the preschool's outdoor classroom.
We base our program on the Emergent philosophy of teaching and curriculum planning, which focuses on being responsive to childrens' interests to create meaningful learning experiences.
Emergent programs prioritize active participation, relationship building, flexible methods, inquiry and play-based learning. CCP teachers introduce students to new concepts (examples include caterpillars, deep oceans, farming) with the goal of inspiring a love of learning. Teachers then skillfully create opportunities for children to learn more about the topics that interest the children the most.

Teacher: Mei Clark
My name is Ms. Mei, I grew up and currently reside in Half Moon Bay, CA. I attended Lewis and Clark College in Portland, OR, where I earned a bachelors degree in East Asian Studies and a minor in Mandarin, Chinese. Prior to starting my family and career in Early Childhood Education, I worked as a Baker at Tartine Bakery in San Francisco.
When my son was born in 2011, I was presented with an opportunity to become a stay at home mom. I believe that family is such an important aspect of life and I wanted to be with my children for the first few years. The time at home I was able to spend with my two children was an eye opening experience: I really got to see how special and unique all children are; and even though each child has their own personality and interests, there are some things that are similar across the board. Children have a natural desire to learn. They have an innate curiosity about their surroundings and new experiences. One of the things that I really enjoyed at home with my children was watching them as they experienced something new for the first time, whether it was a new food or a new toy or their first visit to the zoo. It gave me so much joy to teach them new things and to help them navigate through life. I want to give the children at Coastside Children’s Program the love and nurture that every child deserves: encouraging them to use their imagination when creating art and playing, introducing them to new foods, reading them a wide variety of books, and providing them an opportunity for new and rewarding experiences. The learning adventures children can have are limitless, and I look forward to joining them on their journey.
When I am not at Coastside Children’s Program, I am continuing my education, playing with my kids, directing a sleep away summer camp, camping, fishing, and cooking.

Site Supervisor: Megan Sheedy
My name is Megan Sheedy and I am the Site Supervisor of the Half Moon Bay Preschool. I have a BA in Child and Adolescent Development and a Site-Supervisor permit from the California Commission of Teacher Credentialing. I have been working in the preschool field as a Lead Teacher and Supervisor for almost 11 years and in 2017 I joined the CCP family. My goal is to provide a rich learning experience and environment that promotes exploration for children's social, cognitive, language, and physical development. When children move on from my program it is my goal that they leave with the skills to question, investigate, and discover ideas and concepts in the world around them. With this, my purpose is to equip children with fundamental tools to become lifelong learners. Thank you for allowing me to be a part of your child's educational journey.
