In 1990, Maru left her native Venezuela and moved to California with her daughter. She began her preschool career working as an aide while taking Early Childhood Education classes at Merritt College. After 15 years living and working in the ECE field in Oakland, Maru moved to the Coast joining the CCP team in September 2005.
Maru has worked in a variety of early childhood education settings, including Montessori schools, parent co-ops, family day care centers, Head Start and agency preschools. This diversity of experience makes Maru an innovative leader as Coastside Children's Programs’ Preschool Site Supervisor. Maru brings personal creativity and compassion to her work, incorporating music, dance, art, cooking, as well as English and Spanish language skills to the children’s preschool curriculum.
Maru enjoys spending quality time with her husband, daughter, and granddaughters and loves getting together with family and friends. She loves playing music, singing, dancing, traveling, and being in nature. |
